For Adam Casillas, working in technology wasn’t just a career path but a lifelong pursuit. Growing up on Catalina Island, his early love for tinkering with electronics hinted at a bright future in computer science. Whether it was disassembling a toaster or flipping through stacks of computer magazines at the local library, Adam’s curiosity ran deep.

He officially launched his career in 2005 as a Junior PC Tech & DBA for the Santa Catalina Island Company. Adam built a rock-solid foundation in IT infrastructure, from building PCs and managing networks to backing up data on magnetic tapes. He quickly transitioned into a project management role, leading large-scale deployments across the island, experiences that prepared him for bigger challenges ahead.

In 2012, Adam took a bold leap, relocating with his young family to Oklahoma to join a startup as a Senior Database Administrator. The move was a risk, but it paid off—Adam provided enterprise-level database services for hedge funds operating in New York, Hong Kong, and the UK. That experience expanded his technical skill set and reinforced his confidence in adapting to change.

When Adam joined Main Street in April 2022 as a SQL Server DBA, it didn’t take long for his diverse database knowledge to shine. His background with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, MariaDB, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure led to key conversations with leadership about how his expertise could shape client outcomes and the company’s future.

Adam’s forward-thinking contributions were instrumental in the formation of Main Street’s Cloud Data Engineering Team, a pivotal moment in our evolution as a data-driven service provider.

Most recently, he led the planning and execution of a large-scale AWS MySQL Blue-Green deployment, successfully migrating an entire company’s data to a more modern and resilient infrastructure. His technical leadership continues to make a major impact, both within the team and across client engagements.

Passion, Persistence, and a Vision for What’s Next

Outside of work, Adam channels his focus into martial arts, gardening, and Japanese cooking. He’s incredibly proud of training his youngest child in Karate, culminating in a recent first-place win at an international tournament.

Professionally, he’s currently pursuing certifications in AWS Data Engineering and MariaDB, with a long-term vision of growing into a leadership role at Main Street. 

As he celebrates his 20th year in the tech industry, Adam is more committed than ever to learning, evolving, and contributing to Main Street’s ongoing success in cloud data engineering.
