Beth Young's journey into database management and data analytics began in an unexpected field: Education. With a degree in education, she started her career as a software trainer, assisting teachers in integrating technology into their classrooms. However, her curiosity for programming soon led her down a different path.
A six-week intensive course in COBOL and JCL sparked her transition into database development, where she helped schools implement online grading systems. That experience led her to SQL Server and Oracle database architecture, where she played a pivotal role in data warehousing, reporting solutions, and analytics.
Now, nearly two years into her Main Street Technical Services role, Beth applies her technical expertise and problem-solving skills to help clients streamline database architecture, data migration, and business intelligence solutions.

Driving Data Innovation at Main Street
As a Database and Data Analytics Specialist, Beth manages database architecture, designs data warehouses, optimizes queries, and integrates reporting solutions like Power BI and Tableau. She thrives on problem-solving and automation, helping businesses turn messy data into structured, actionable insights.
A standout project involved working with an insurance company that struggled with managing data in Excel spreadsheets. Beth helped migrate their data into the SQL Server, developing a fully automated reporting system that allows users to drop a file and instantly generate Power BI reports. The result? Improved efficiency, reduced manual work, and faster access to critical business data.
