Peter Schott’s journey into the world of database administration started in the early days of Microsoft SQL Server, and it’s been fueled ever since by a deep curiosity and passion for learning. After gaining experience at several companies and becoming an active participant in the SQL Server community, Peter first crossed paths with Main Street Technical Services at a SQL Saturday event. That moment sparked a connection that would eventually bring him to Main Street in October 2019.

As a Senior Database Administrator and Technical Team Lead at Main Street Technical Services, Peter works closely with clients to ensure their databases are secure, optimized, and running at peak performance. His day-to-day includes everything from backup configuration and high availability planning to building ETL processes and streamlining repetitive tasks using PowerShell and SSIS.
Peter Schott: Trusted Technology and SQL Leader
One of Peter’s standout contributions at Main Street involved leading a smooth, low-downtime server migration for a key client—an upgrade from an aging SQL Server to a modern, secure platform. Thanks to Peter’s preparation and expertise, the transition was executed seamlessly, avoiding disruption for end users.
Equally impactful is Peter’s work behind the scenes: he’s built systems that eliminate manual data gathering from servers, saving the team time and allowing them to focus on deeper analysis and solutions. His efforts have helped streamline operations across the DBA team, improving both internal efficiency and client value.
A Passion for SQL Community and Continuous Learning
Peter is an AZ-DP300 certified Azure Database Administrator Associate, and he actively stays informed through blogs, books, and videos from top SQL thought leaders. He’s also an enthusiastic contributor to the wider database community, always sharing knowledge and ideas with peers.
His long-term goal? Continue advancing his cloud and automation skills while mentoring others at Main Street. Peter envisions growing a robust internal knowledge base that supports new and seasoned employees alike.
Beyond Databases
Outside of work, Peter keeps just as busy, volunteering with local AHG and Trail Life troops, supporting his church’s student music ministry, and singing in the choir. He’s also a board game enthusiast and enjoys camping adventures with his family.
As a technology leader and mentor, Peter Schott brings not only technical expertise to Main Street, but a strong spirit of collaboration, innovation, and community. His impact is felt daily, both inside our team and with every client he supports. Thanks for all you do, Peter!
