With over 30 years of experience in software development and database administration, Paul Mazur brings both depth and adaptability to his role as a Senior Database Administrator at Main Street Technical Services. Based in Nicholasville, Kentucky, Paul joined the company in June 2021 during the height of the pandemic - a challenge he embraced with flexibility and professionalism.

Paul’s journey into the tech world started in the aerospace industry, where he worked in assembly language programming for gas turbine fuel control systems that operated with just 16K of memory and no floating-point processor. "But these things flew," Paul adds, a reflection of the innovation that’s driven his career ever since.

His experience spans manufacturing, e-commerce, health insurance, banking, hospitality, and even the U.S. Navy. A pivotal moment came during his time at Toyota, where Paul began working with SQL Server just as it was emerging in the market. Since then, he’s grown into a well-rounded data specialist with a focus on performance tuning, ETL, reporting, and business intelligence.

As a Senior DBA, Paul supports a variety of clients across industries with full-service database administration, including operational support, design, performance tuning, ETL development, and backup/recovery planning. He takes pride in providing strategic and thoughtful support while also troubleshooting with precision.

One standout project involved a client’s transition away from SAP. Paul successfully transformed key historical data from SAP into SQL Server tables, enabling in-house applications to continue accessing vital information. He also led the conversion of call center reports during a major platform migration—work that required accuracy, collaboration, and a deep understanding of both the old and new systems.

Passion for Problem Solving and HomeSteading

Paul’s technical skills include deep expertise in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SSIS, SSRS, and AWS. But he credits much of his growth to conversations and collaboration with colleagues, always keeping an ear out for what others are learning and sharing.

Outside of work, Paul lives a full and spirited life. He and his wife run a hobby farm complete with chickens, ducks, pigs, and donkeys. He’s also a diehard fan of the Buffalo Bills and proudly calls himself a card-carrying member of the Bills Mafia.

Perhaps most notably, Paul is deeply involved in adult catechesis at his Catholic parish, where he teaches and mentors others exploring the faith.
